Where Nature Meets Nation: Canberra Hosts Outdoor Industry Summit
With 70% of Canberra and the ACT made up of nature reserves and parkland, the capital was a natural fit for the 2025 Outdoor Industry Summit, hosted by Outdoors NSW & ACT. Over four days in July, delegates from across Australia and overseas gathered for professional exchange, collaboration, and connection.
Embracing Canberra’s great outdoors, the program included site visits to Outward Bound Australia, Birrigai Outdoor School, Tidbinbilla, and Stromlo Park, alongside the NATCORR Outdoor Risk and Resilience Symposium delivered in partnership with the Bureau of Meteorology and NEMA.
Thoroughbred Park provided a flexible venue for both conference sessions and evening events, which were highly rated for their warm atmosphere and excellent service.
“Canberra was a great destination for our 2025 Summit – it’s so accessible, and our national audience grew. Delegates were delighted and have asked for it to return,”
— Lori Modde, CEO, Outdoors NSW & ACT
Delegates stayed across multiple hotels including the Pavilion on Northbourne, Nesuto Apartments, Mercure Belconnen, and Quality Hotel Dickson, with local providers supporting catering, staffing, florals, and transport.
The Summit saw the launch of the MTB Manifesto and the graduation of the first Pinnacle Leadership cohort. With strong satisfaction and meaningful milestones achieved, Canberra once again proved an ideal destination for national, nature-based industry events.
