TASTE YOUR WAY THROUGH CANBERRA
With a focus on seasonal, local produce, Canberra’s restaurant scene is bursting with culinary delights to suit all tastes. Enjoy the ultimate paddock-to-plate experience at the stunning Pialligo Estate, dine at one of Canberra’s 14 hatted restaurants, or secure a seat at Monster Bar & Grill at Ovolo Nishi Canberra and delight in the all-vegetarian menu. For the ultimate Canberra experience watch the sun set over Lake Burley Griffin at The Boat House.
Canberra’s rich terrain and cool climate make for some of the best truffle growing conditions in the country. From June to August every year, local venues transform their menu to align with the Truffle Festival and promote locally grown fungi. With the help of a truffle dog, harvest your own delicacy at the Majura Truffle Farm and witness the chefs transform your findings into a sweet and savoury menu.
WINERIES, BREWERIES AND DISTILLERIES
The Canberra District Wine Region is home to 140 vineyards and more than 30 cellar doors, playing a huge role in the city’s burgeoning food and beverage scene. Key producers include Clonakilla, making a name for themselves off the success of the Shiraz Viognier, and Helm Wines for their spectacular drop of Riesling, the Premium Dry. Vineyard views are abundant at Shaw Wines, Contentious Character and Brindabella Hills Winery. For spirits lovers, keep an eye out for the handcrafted range by Underground Spirits and Canberra Distillery on menus around town, or enjoy a cold tap beer at our local brewpubs BentSpoke Brewing Co and Capital Brewing Co.
Continue the Canberra fun well into the evening. For a cosy tipple, follow the coordinates to speakeasy Molly and High Jinks, work your way through the wine list at Parlour, visit the award-winning Bar Rochford, unwind at the moody Midnight Bar or take flight at Cuban bar The Highball Express.
