Sales Coordinator

An exciting opportunity exists for a Sales Coordinator to join Canberra Convention Bureau and be part of a friendly and dynamic team responsible for promoting Canberra as a leading Business Events destination.  

In your role as Sales Coordinator, you will provide strong administrative and organisational support to the Business Development team with the creation and management of national and international bids and expression of interest documents along with the management of short lead event enquiries.  

Key Responsibilities: 
-Work with Business Development Directors to gain a full understanding of the event and bid requirements 
-Conduct research on event history to ensure bidding requirements are correct 
-Source letters of support from various industry bodies, government agencies and institutions.  
-Collate member proposals, checking details and content 
-Create bid documents and expressions of interest via InDesign 
-Create and distribute leads to enable members to quote  
-Update and maintain correct account information in the Simpleview database 
-Manage short lead enquiries as the first point of contact for the Bureau and smaller business leads where proposals are direct to client 
-Qualify and build local contacts for networking nights and local familiarisations  
-Follow up member response and record wins/losses 
-Organise and conduct site inspections for confirmed meetings.

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications and experience: 
-Minimum two years experience in an administration role, or supervisory within the hospitality industry 
-Ability to prioritise and time manage activities and co-ordinate multiple projects to deadlines 
-High-level verbal and written communication skills  
-Attention to detail 
-Ability to work well in a small, collaborative team environment 
-Commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and professionalism 
-Digital proficiency in a CRM platform, MS Office Suite and SharePoint  
-Experience with InDesign basics would be an advantage 
-Interest in the business events sector and the role it plays in contributing to tourism outcomes and for the knowledge economy 
-Excellent understanding of Canberra tourism and business events businesses 
-Relevant or transferable education is well-regarded
-Prior experience working in a membership-based organisation or not-for-profit will be highly regarded.

This is a full-time role. Bureau hours are 8:30 - 17:30 Monday to Friday.  

The successful candidate will be required to attend occasional after-hours functions.
